Raising Chickens
I have been raising chickens for around seven years now. Originally my parents bought some chickens as an Easter gift, and we’ve annually bought more ever since. My family has probably saved hundreds of dollars over the years, just from the eggs they produce! We buy our chicks from Tractor Supply every other Spring, but you can also get them on-demand on Tractor Supply’s website. Chickens come in hundreds of different breeds, the friendliest of which you can find here. You can also learn about how you could raise chickens here. |
Videogame Development
I first discovered videogame development in middle school, where I learned the very basics of JavaScript block coding on Code.org. In more recent years, I’ve practiced videogame developing on the Roblox platform, which is a free multiplayer 3-D game hosting website. Although Roblox is traditionally known for its simplistic children’s games, there are hidden gems and a lot of potential on this platform. Roblox Studio is the application used to develop Roblox games, and it uses the Luau programming language, a modification of the Brazilian-made language Lua. Luau’s documentation can be found here, and if you’re interested in learning how to use Roblox Studio yourself (it is free, after all), you can start with these same tutorials I used. |
T-Shirt Printing
I first was introduced to t-shirt printing from my highschool graphics classes, but I have only just recently taken it up as a hobby. Just a few weeks ago, I purchased roughly one thousand dollars of t-shirt sublimation and vinyl equipment, which are two different methods for printing onto shirts. Vinyl, more specifically Heat Transfer Vinyl, is a special kind of Vinyl that attaches to clothing after being heatpressed together. However, Vinyl only comes in solid colors, making designs very limited in color range. You can learn more about Vinyl here. Sublimation is a technique that transfers special printer inks from a piece of paper into the very fabric of a shirt, creating a high quality, long-lasting design. Sublimation designs can be very intricate, since they’re printed like a normal photo. You can learn more about Sublimation here. Normally, sublimation is limited to white polyester shirts. However, using this unique method, I can combine both Vinyl and Sublimation to put high-detail designs on any color or fabric! |
