Chapter 1

Browser Basics

Reading Chapter One somehow was even less informative than Appendix A. There was no new information introduced that I did not already know of. I already knew the basic functions of a web browser, as well as cookies and both types of home pages, just from general experience gained by growing up in the twenty-first century. I find it surprising that such basic information is taught in this college course. I also already knew of networks, client/server architectures, and algorithms, from my experience in programming and server hosting, as I explained in the previous summary. I was already familiar with HTML and its tags from a programming class I took in middle school.

The information reviewed in this Chapter was so rudimentary I can’t even say it was a refresher. Though I will note, the Chrome address bar being called the “Omnibar” was an interesting fun fact.
